Biography

Count Gabba, Transilvanian and only survivor of the house of the legendary Count Vlads ascends from the dusty dry cellar in his stone walled property. Underneath his black raiment he harbours the secret of the tragic treasury of songs bewailing his unfulfilled love for a young middle class lady.

His heart beating in the rhythm of his musical work, Count Gabba avoids the light like the plague. Thus the black count faces the fatal decision between eternal life  in darkness and the finiteness of a mundane life in the name of love and fulfilment. Centuries of suffering, pain and loneliness and the fervent longing for a human existence will now come to an end.

Count Gabba takes us on a musical ride through melancholical Americana, dusky folk and rattling country music. It’s show time! Raise the curtain, turn on the spotlight, here comes Count Gabba.

Count Gabba is a folk musician with an affinity to Americana and country and street poet with a penchant for melancholy who outgrew rock n roll. In his songs he raises the question of human nature. Count Gabba is looking for love, its meaning and exasperating nonsense but even thinking about the abyss of hedonism the answers he finds remain shallow.

The debut record «The Lady’s Gone. The Song remains.» contains 11 episodes and is a compact work of urgent profundity. Count Gabba knows about all excuses: nothing counts, nothing is reliable. Today never comes back.

«Burn Barcelona», «Eyes like Guns» or «The Deeper We Fall» sound unforgiving and accusing, «Sweet Senorita» and «Let Her Grow» remind us of times of intimacy and togetherness. «Headphones» is a tribute to the best: Bob Dylan and Lemmy Kilmister and bows to the heroes The Ramones and Johnny Cash. «The Greatest Show Ever» is an ode to his recently deceased friend and mentor Thomas Hösli.

Concerts

October 22, 2010
Casineum, Luzern

Hendrik Belden asked us to open for his hometown-show. Of course we will, although we are not sure yet, in which line-up we gonna hit the stage. So stay tuned!

December 18, 2010
Viadukt, Zürich

We were asked to play at this venue this spring. But since we were at the studio at the time we had to postpone the concert. The good thing about this is: The new record will be released on 17th december - so this is probably going to be the first show with the new program! It's a gig with the whole fantastic supergroup - and it's a double concert, again with the great Rita Hey.
